Both in the Netherlands and in Germany there is increasing political and societal attention for the transition to a circular economy (CE). A revaluation of material-use and the development of new materials are crucial in this respect. ANCB The Aedes Metropolitan Laboratory in collaboration with The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Berlin conceptualised a programme called ALL GOOD(S), which started on 9 September 2020 with an Opening Lab Talk. It consists of several meetings to discuss Dutch and German innovations in new material design – considering raw materials, techniques and application to enable a sustainable and circular economy in the future. The programme supports knowledge exchange and new connections across disciplines, between Dutch and German stakeholders.

Within this programme, the Circular Fashion event on 1 October explores the role of policy making in enhancing the use of innovative design principles and new materials in the fashion sector. It complements the Circular Design Sprint workshop, which took place online in May and June.

Both countries have proven to be innovative, powerful and professional when it comes to revising their current polluting fashion industry. In the Netherlands, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (I&W) recently presented their new policy programme for circular textiles. Simultaneously, the German Ministry for the Environment, Natural Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) recently published their final report on their Resource Efficiency programme (ProgRess) and just revised their Circular Economy law.

During this evening, policy makers will exchange thoughts and experiences with representatives from the industry to discover where circular policy making could improve the transition towards a 'New Textile Economy'.
